According to the official website, Huawei is a Chinese multinational technology company, which mainly includes telecommunication services and equipment with smartphones being one of the company’s most popular products sold worldwide. The headquarters is located in Shenzhen, the major technological advancement hub in China. In the last few years, Huawei has transformed their business focus from carrier network to technological innovations, where they earned almost 354 billion yuan. By comparison, as a carrier network they earned over 300 billion yuan from the carrier network business. Since 2012, the spending on research and development of Huawei has increased from almost 30 billion yuan to over 140 billion yuan, only slightly less than the selling and administrative expenses in the company.

Huawei’s smartphones have been introduced to various key markets in the rest of the world. In the first quarter of 2012, the smartphone shipments of Huawei only accounted for around three percent globally, and after years of work, the market share of Huawei has reached over 8 percent. The global shipments of Huawei products has doubled in the past three years, from slightly over 107 million units in 2015 to 240 million units in 2019.
